What is SNS Challenger?
SNS Challenger is a social network site or social network "ship" that has been sailing the Internet since December 21st 2009
What is the project about and what is the aim?
The project takes its inspiration from HMS Challenger, a British Research ship that sailed around the world between 1872 and 1876 gathering information about the oceans. Whilst recording the depths of the oceans and collecting specimens of marine wildlife, they also took 500 photographs of the people and places they visited. Using social media and digital photography, we aim to re-visit and re-photograph each of these pictures. Through this, we hope to learn more about local landscapes through the photographic skills of local people.

How to help?
We are looking for volunteers in each of the locations to help identify locations and re-photograph them. A ship is only as good as its crew! If you would like to join our "crew", click on the logo and sign up.
Does it cost anything?
No, this project is part of a PhD research project at London College of Communication and does not cost anything to be involved.

Is it possible to help in other ways?

Yes, tell people about our project. Write an article, tweet us, or share us on Facebook.
